WELL done to Redditch Council for its ongoing landscaping work.
Some people complain about any changes to the landscaping of the borough and are very vocal about the reduction in trees and hedges - not me!
I regularly walk my dog in mostly the south and central part of the borough (always picking up any fouling) and am amazed at how different a path feels after the removal of a few trees or shrubs.
Don't get me wrong, I really do appreciate trees and nature but there needs to be a compromise.
What is the point in living in a wonderfully green borough if you don't feel happy to take a walk in it.
I feel the reduction in shrub beds is a real bonus to the community. If you've not walked to Arrow Valley Countryside Centre recently, why not give it go? Get your legs and lungs working. Why not walk to the town centre and if you buy heavy purchases, just get a taxi back.
Redditch is gorgeous so make the most of it.
Redditch may not be in the countryside but as far as I'm concerned, it has all of the positive points of a rural environment with all of the positive aspects of an urban environment.
I've lived in rural Hampshire, Portsmouth, Sheffield and Birmingham and while I now work in the West Midlands conurbation, I'm not considering moving from Redditch because it's going be difficult to choose where next
Lets stop slagging off Redditch and be proud of where we live.
