NEWLY promoted Bromsgrove Swimming Club found the going tough in the Nuneaton and District League Division One.
Bromsgrove finished fifth in the first round on Saturday.
The club though showed signs they can compete with four first places, six runners-up and nine third place finishes.
The nine-year-old boys and girls team showed grit and determination, with second places for Sarah Farmiloe and David Newton and a third place for Phillip May, while Saffy Monks-Smith came fourth.
The girls relay team of Emily Wood, Ellie Saker, Alice Upcott and Monks-Smith finished fourth
The boys team of Kristian Higham, Sam Efiong, Philip May and David Newton secured fifth place.
Will Newton was victorious in the under-11s backstroke.
The girls free-style relay team of Monks-Smith, Sarah Farmiloe, Charlotte Baker, Caelyn Hirschman, Megan Cotton, Hollie Aldridge, Chloe Daplyn and Alice Farmiloe also won.
The boys relay team were pipped into second place.
Dan Scarr was third in the under-11s freestyle.
Scarr then helped the mixed relay team of Farmiloe, David Newton, Caelyn Hirschman, Alastair Hickman, Alice Alton, Philippa Thomas and Steve Muddiman to victory.
Muddiman, Scarr and Hirschman also finished second in their individual races.
Bromsgrove finished fifth, 57 points behind winners Perry Beeches, but ahead of Bilston.
