DURING March, two very interesting slide show meetings were enjoyed.
The first was presented by Doreen Kimberly, who shared a memorable holiday she had taken in Canada.
She visited Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec and Niagra Falls then continued her journey by air to Calgary and then by coach travelling through the beautiful Rockies to Vancouver.
At the March 24 meeting, photographer Ray Sturdy showed what life was like in Worcestershire 100 years ago, looking back to living conditions at the time.
Of notable interest were that a prison, a castle and a music shop owned by Sir Edward Elgar's parents were all located in the centre of Worcester city.
Ray generously donated his fee to Mencap, founded by Brian Rix many years ago.
Two social events, an evening meal at a local restaurant and a skittles evening, were enjoyed.
Thanks were extended to Julie Gallivan and Margaret Poole for organising the events.
The next meeting is tomorrow, when Charles Golding will talk on the RSPB.
Meetings are held in the small hall at Headless Cross Church at 7.45pm.
A warm welcome is extended to all ladies.
