On Easter Tuesday, club members were offered prepared speeches covering the whole breadth of the Speakers Training Manual.
Kashmir Garton gave an extremely polished speech about violence on television using the second assignment in the manual, when speakers are asked to speak on a subject which they feel very strongly about. Linda Parsons, an experienced member of the club, used her speech on electricity to complete her 10th and final assignment.
Evaluated by two senior members of the club, Linda's well prepared and delivered speech earned her a resounding pass and she now receives her Certificate of Achievement.
Linda now moves on to the advanced assignments.
The final prepared speech for the evening was given by Nessam, demonstrating her skills in using gestures to enhance a speech.
On Friday, Nessam with two other members, competed in an inter-club competition in Solihull - this was Nessam's first competition.
Nessam will be leaving the club shortly as she moves to university but we hope to see her in her vacations.
The evening concluded with an enthusiastic impromptu speaking session - members speaking on a variety of subjects without preparation for three minutes.
