Worcester Warriors outside-half James Brown will attend a different type of training session next week when he opens an event to teach employers how they can give their workforce the skills they need.

The Skills Station, the one-stop training advice shop for Herefordshire and Worcestershire businesses, held its Skills Seminar Networking Event on Monday at Great Malvern's Training Station.

Guest speakers included Anthony Gell from the Worcester Management Centre at Worcester College of Technology, and Mike Smith from the Kidderminster and District Training Company.

And James Brown will take a break from the rugby pitch to add a bit of star quality to the proceedings.

The event aimed to give local employers a taster of what is on offer to businesses in the two counties, and how the Skills Station, which is based at Great Malvern's railway station, can help them with workforce development and training.

"Industry losses through lack of basic skills are as high as £10bn annually," said Corinne Edwards, Skills Station manager.

"We hope, through events such as this, that we can build awareness of what the Skills Station has to offer local businesses and that the training requirements of even more businesses can be met."
