A LUCKY punter from Worcester has won £30,000 after placing a 50p bet.
The man in his 40s, who does not want to be identified, won the Tote Jackpot after predicting the winners of six horse races on one day.
"I am delighted for him," said Steve Mason, from Steve Mason Bookmakers, on Ombersley Road, where the bet was placed.
"I've known him for a few years.
"He rang me after the final race and he said he was speechless.
"When he collected on Tuesday he said he was still in shock."
Mr Mason said the bet was placed on Monday, April 11, and it was the biggest win he had seen in more than 30 years in the trade.
And it seems as though good luck has been spreading around Worcestershire at the moment.
David Butler scooped £1,000 at the Majestic Club in Derwent Close, Warndon, last Saturday. Mr Butler joined the Bingo club 10 years ago and plays two or three times a week.
On Friday, April 8, the Worcester News reported that a Worcestershire resident won a £10,000 Premium Bond prize in a draw run by National Savings and Investments.
