STOURPORT Swifts crashed to defeat at the hands of bogey side Sutton Coldfield Town, a penalty two minutes from time handing all three points to the visitors.

Some shoddy defending from Andy Wells coupled with a lunge from keeper Aaron O'Malley on Damian Markman allowed the tricky Sutton striker to dust himself off and drill home the resulting spot kick.

Swifts had caused a few problems early on with the recalled Alex Volosanovs missing an early chance while Dan Mason appeared to be fouled inside the area only for the referee to wave play on.

But Sutton weathered the storm and opened the scoring on 12 minutes, Andy Jones turning the ball beyond O'Malley and into his own net.

Richard Burgess was proving a handful for the visiting defence but he twice squandered chances for the home side before star man John Shirley sent an effort just over the crossbar.

And those misses proved costly as Markman doubled Sutton's lead with a 44th minute penalty after he had been shoved in the back.

There was another penalty awarded on the hour and this time the call went in Stourport's favour after Duncan Willetts was felled, the striker lashing home from the spot.

And Swifts continued to lift their game, grabbing a 77th minute equaliser when substitute Mark Atkinson found the net from the edge of the area.

But just when it looked as though Stourport had earned a share of the spoils, Markman's second penalty gave the visitors victory.
