Bewdley Town were made to work hard against battling Bilston - but eventually secured a 3-2 win which takes them to the top of West Midlands League division one.
Craig Payton's men had to twice come from behind to see off stubborn opponents - who were a much tougher nut to crack than the Bilston Bewdley battered 9-0 earlier in the season.
A brace from Lewis Pountney, which took his season's tally to 27, and a Chris Hough strike were enough to secure the victory whichputs the Ribbesford Meadows side a point ahead of Great Wyrley who have one game in hand.
Bilston twice took the lead in the first half with goals from Pountney and Hough on 27 and 41 minutes cancelling out strikes from their opponents on 23 and 32 minutes.
But Bewdley dominated the match after the break and got their just reward when Pountney bagged the winner on 74 minutes after good work from Jamie Hart and Tommy Stewart.
Manager Payton said: "All credit goes to the lads who were determined to win against Bilston, knowing Bewdley would go top of the table and put the pressure on Great Wyrley for a change."
Bewdley travel to Tenbury United at 7.45pm on Wednesday.
