PETER Moores was today named as England's new director of the national academy.
The England and Wales Cricket board announced this morning Moores would succeed Rod Marsh on October 1 after the Australian leaves his post.
Moores has signed a three-year contract to take charge of the National Cricket Centre at Loughborough.
The 42-year-old, who guided Sussex to their first ever County Championship title in 2003, said: "I am thrilled to have been given the chance to build on the foundations laid by Rod Marsh at The National Academy."
Moores beat off the challenge of Worcestershire's director of cricket Tom Moody for the role.
