THE speaker on March 16 was Kevin Bailey, head of Hagley Primary School, whose talk, illustrated by slides, was entitled "From Hagley to Gambia".

Mr Bailey told how he and colleagues forged links with a school in The Gambia and talked about life in the former British colony in West Africa.

The project received funding from the British Council and nine teaching staff from the school had visited The Gambia over recent years.

Teaching staff from The Gambian school had visited Hagley.

On May 12 a skittles evening will take place, for members and friends, and the spring food, flowers and craft day will be held at the Ramada Hotel, Bewdley, on May 23.

There will be a residential visit to Denman College in December.

Other events include a visit to Tatton Park flower show, and the National Space Centre in Leicester.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, at Broome parish rooms, starting at 7.30pm.
