SIXTIES star Donovan is heading to Cheltenham next month.
Last year, the folk-rock singer released Beat Caf, his first album in eight years.
This year, he brings a live version on the road, Beat Caf Acoustic, and includes a special guest among the band - his daughter Astrella Celeste.
He was born in Glasgow and started out as a folk singer, singing on Ready Steady Go at the age of 18, before his first single Catch The Wind shot into the charts at number 3.
He then shifted towards the folk-rock path with the likes of Mellow Yellow, Sunshine Superman, There is a Mountain, Hurdy-Gurdy Man and Atlantis, through the 1970s.
He headed out to California with his family in the 1980s before heading back to Britain for a 1990 tour and to work on his autobiography.
Beat Caf was inspired by the philosophy, poetry and free thought of Bohemian cafs in 1840s Paris. The album was put together by award-winning producers and band members, encouraged to work in a spontaneous fashion and now the world tour is recreating it live on stage.
Astrella Celeste has been performing on stage with her father from a young age and in her own right. She will be singing with the band.
They all come to Cheltenham Town Hall on May 18. Call the box office on 01242 227979 or log on to boxoffice@cheltenham.gov.uk.
