I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Mark Turner's letter about disability being the preserve of the elderly.
What a load of rubbish. I myself suffer with a disability and have recently and gratefully acquired a concessionary bus pass from Wychavon, which clearly states on the front of it in huge letters - Elderly bus pass. What a cheek, bless them. May I take this opportunity to suggest to Wychavon to have it without elderly on it and just concessionary bus pass instead, that way there will be no discrimination anywhere. I'm 40.
I have bus drivers asking me if I'm taking the persistence, and yes I've had to ring the depot and confirm what's wrong with me.
These days I'm lucky to catch the bus without having a seizure, on the way to the bus stop. So as Mark Turner says don't tar everyone with the same brush. We can't help being young, lovely and disabled. PS I also have a son with the same problem - he's 23.
