A new and visible police presence is on the streets of Upton in the form of Community Support Officer Emma Burrows.
CSO Burrows started work this week on foot patrol, getting to know her patch and local people.
As a Community Support Officer with West Mercia Police her role is to be a point of contact and support to the local community.
"I'm here to help people with minor crime and incidents such as anti-social behaviour, nuisance, dog fouling and littering," she explained.
These things, she said, have a big impact on communities along with the fear of crime.
"I'm here on the streets to provide a police presence people can see,"she said.
Police officers with large areas to cover often travel by car. However, CSO Burrows will be on foot in Upton 80 percent of the time. She hopes the public will find her presence in Upton reassuring.
"I'm here to help," she said.
Establishing links with other organisations, including youth groups, is another aim.
"A lot of trouble is caused simply because young people have nothing to do," she said, explaining that in other areas CSOs had organised football teams for bored teenagers.
