THE 2005 season for the Sand Hogs golf society has started out with a flurry.
The first event, at Cleobury Mortimer, was won by Patrick Stone after just pipping Steve Vizard and Ian Budd to the post with a creditable 38 points.
The second event, 'The Spring Cup Shield', was competed at The Belfry in very cold and windy conditions. However, despite the weather, Alan Bradley proved too consistent on the day and went away with the honours, beating Scott Murray and Rod Rhodes on countback.
The days were both great successes and thanks go to Hunts Stores who provided the baskets of fruit that were raffled for the captain's (Alistair Symon) charity, the Air Ambulance.
This weekend sees the annual competition between the Sand Hogs and the Foley Arms Hotel for the prestigious Foley Challenge.
This is a Ryder Cup format played over two days, Bransford and Puckrup, and the Sand Hogs are out to revenge the narrow defeat they suffered last year after holding the cup for the previous two years.
