TWO former colleagues at Malvern's Chase school will be reunited in song at a charity concert.

Pianist Aydin Onac, former deputy head, will join ex-head David Fawbert in a concert by the Avon Singers at St James's School, West Malvern, on Saturday, April 23.

Both left the Chase in 2002, Mr Onac to become head at Tewkesbury School and Mr Fawbert to retire.

Music from Three Contin-ents offers a whirlwind tour from Africa to north and south America, with music from David Fanshawe's African Sanctus, Negro spirituals and Ariel Ramirez's Missa Criolla. Mr Onac will perform short works by Rachmaninov, Liszt, John Ireland and Hindemith.

He said: "I am very much looking forward to the concert, I always enjoy performing in Malvern."

Mr Fawbert, who has sung with the Avon Singers for several years, said: "We are delighted that Aydin has agreed to contribute to the programme. His special talents are well known to Malvern audiences and I can recall memorable solo piano performances, particularly with the Chandos Orchestra in the Forum."

He promised that there would be something for everyone's taste.

The 18-member Avon Singers are based in Evesham and directed by Malvern teacher Carol Bayliss.

From madrigals to the Bee Gees, the singers have a large repertoire and have used it to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Music from Three Continents will be performed at the Oakdene Centre of St James's School at 8pm.
