MALVERN Rugby Club produced one of their finest displays of recent years when they defeated promotion rivals Hinckley 44-16 on Saturday.
The Spring Lane side and Hinckley were neck-and-neck in second and third place in the Midlands Two West league table but Malvern had the better points difference.
David Robins, director of rugby, was delighted with his side and said: "The lads knew it was down to them and they responded with an awesome display of almost total rugby. Our biggest crowd of supporters to an away game for some years helped tremendously to lift the team and they outplayed Hinckley all over.
"The two flankers were outstanding; Davies and King tackled like dervishes and dominated the playmaking, whilst the King-Eastwood combination punished Hinckley all afternoon. The front five dominated and the whole team went for the kill and once they had Hinckley in a stranglehold, they didn't let go."
Malvern should face the runners-up in the Eastern Division in a promotion play-off, although with league leaders Burton losing on Saturday, the title is undecided.
