A RUN of seven successive wins had placed Rejects eight points clear at the top of the Malvern Gazette Men's Skittles League division one going into the final league game of the season against Cradley.

Victory by the Rejects would guarantee winning the title from previous and long-reigning champ-ions, Powick Nomads. On a tense evening, where Cradley also had to win to stay in division one, the first leg was drawn with no points going to either side. The subsequent legs led to Cradley winning two, with both sides producing excellent skittling, attaining 70 and 71 legs to Rejects and Cradley respectively. This left Rejects with only one point at the end of the fourth leg and requiring 71 to win the game.

The Rejects responded emphatically, as they have done all season and maintained a consistent high level of scoring and produced that one elusive spare on the seventh man (R Evans, 14) making a final leg score of 74 to lift the title, after finishing second and third in previous seasons.

The Rejects now look forward to trying to complete the treble and successes in the singles and pairs competitions.
