Crossed wires and mistaken identities lead to extreme confusion in the next production by the Malvern Wells Players.

The group will be staging Alan Ayckbourn's comedy of errors Relatively Speaking, from April 20-22.

Greg and Ginny live together, but strange phonecalls, anonymous gifts and a large pair of slippers arouse Greg's suspicions that he is not the only man in his partner's life.

When Ginny decides to visit her parents, Greg follows her to find out the truth. Meanwhile, Phillip suspects his wife Sheila is having an affair, but she is not the least but suspicious of him.

The couple's life is thrown into confusion with the arrival of two very unexpected guests.

Making their stage debut with the players, Hannah Callaghan and Helen Baker take the roles of Ginny and Sheila, while seasoned performers Evan Peach and Chris Fear play Greg and Phillip.

Director John Wickers said the play was one of his favourites.

"I played Phillip in Ludlow, before I moved here, and had visions of doing the play again sometime," he said.

"When this opportunity came up, I thought 'Right, this is it, I'll put it on stage in Malvern'."

Mr Wickers said he had decided on the cast at an early stage.

"I wanted Helen and Hannah to be involved, it's nice to have some new faces," he said. "We've also got people making their debut as stage crew

"Rehearsals are going very well and I'm really looking forward to it."

Performances, which are sponsored by Daniels Garage and La Maison de Malvern, begin at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £3.50 on Wednesday and £4 on Thursday and Friday, available on the door.
