PRIME Minister Tony Blair's wife, Cherie, was due to visit Worcester today in a show of how important the Faithful City votes are in the General Election.

She is due to meet Labour's parliamentary candidate Mike Foster who, in the 2001 election, won 48.6 per cent of the vote - a majority of 13 per cent.

The wives of the three main party leaders have been doing their bit to promote their husbands in the race for 10 Downing Street.

Tory leader Michael Howard's wife Sandra did a walk around Worcester city centre last week.

Worcester ranks 111th on Tory party's list of target seats.
