THE 16th Worcester Scout group, which was once in danger of losing its Beaver pack, has seen something of a revival.
Tonight, at St Martin with St Peter's Parish Church, off London Road, the association is due to invest in three new Beavers, one Cub and four Scouts.
This involves the new members repeating the Scout promise in front of the other members.
"In December 2003 we were going to close our Beaver pack altogether because we did not have a leader," said Dawn Knowles, the present Beaver Scout leader.
"That leader volunteered to stay on until I had finished my training. In September 2004 I started as Beaver scout leader."
She added that the numbers of Beavers, Scouts and Cubs was also down but, thanks to the dedication of parents, leaders and the boys who attend, things have really turned around.
Now the association can boast 35 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
On Saturday, April 23, the 16th Worcester Scout group will take part in this year's St George's Day Parade through the city centre.
