CHAMINDA Vaas flew into New Road warning Worcestershire's rivals -- 'I'm hungry for wickets'.
The 31-year-old only touched down in England today following Sri Lanka's tour of New Zealand. However, the former World Cup winner is already geared up to spearhead Worcestershire's bid for promotion.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge and I'm hungry for wickets," he said. "I'm a little bit jet-lagged but can't complain. For a fast bowler like me, the early conditions should suit me in England so I'm looking forward to bowling.
"Promotion is the main aim for us but that means me taking wickets and us winning matches. If we can keep on winning then we can gain promotion."
Vaas goes straight into the County's team to play Durham tomorrow and the man considered to be one of the best left-arm swing bowlers in world cricket is looking forward to match!
"I've played at Durham many times -- it's freezing up there!" he said.
"I bowled pretty well in the two Test matches for Sri Lanka recently in New Zealand. I had six wickets in the last Test so I'm happy with my form.
"I now have a major role with Worcestershire so I'm really looking forward to performing here."
