MOTORISTS are being warned not to slow down and stare at road accidents because it can create further problems.

The practice of "rubbernecking" also adds to congestion, says the County Air Ambulance.

Paul Weir, the charity's fundraising manager, said he was appealing to "the public's good nature" not to slow down when they see an accident by the roadside.

"For the paramedics and workers from the other emergency services that are dealing with incidents, those who slow down to look at what's happening are creating further problems," he said.
