I AM writing to complain about Wychavon District Council's decision to
destroy the Droitwich Lido pool, like the demolition of the Worcestershire.
If you destroy the Lido pool you are destroying an important piece of
history.
I learnt at school that Droitwich, where I come from was famous for its salt.
If it wasn't for the salt we wouldn't have the town that we have.
I think we should have the right to make use of our salt. I want to be able to
swim in "our" salt water in "our" lido, which is a much larger than average
pool to accommodate our town and all the people that want to visit.
I don't want a fish-shaped paddling pool with lots of silly sand that won't
mix with water. The buildings were not shabby; everyone says it was a fun
place to be.
If people didn't bother going there to swim then it is a shame for them, and I wish I had that chance. I think the town should get rid of these councillors, because they don't care for what we want. We want useful, active and fun.
I want to use the lido and so do my brothers for very strong health reasons.
My little brother is very sensitive to chemicals as allergies run in our
family so he will never be able to use the strong, stifling, chlorinated pool.
My Auntie works at gyms that have outside pools and they have a lot more
people going there because of this.
Give us our Lido back!
