A KINDHEARTED police officer is taking his work home with him - only this time it is of the furry variety.
PC Simon Wills, of Bromsgrove police, saved the black, white and brown hamster, now called Little Willy, last week but the animal's owners still can't be traced.
The hamster was rescued from the clutches of a cat in the road outside 32 Fordhouse Road on Monday, April 11.
PC Wills said: "I saw the cat flick something white into the air and I thought it was a mouse. But then I realised it was too big.
"I pulled over to see the hamster hiding behind the wheel of a car. I picked him up, but he just froze in my hands, so I took him back to the station."
Little Willy was given a makeshift bed in a box and given a snack of pork pie.
The concerned police officer returned to Fordhouse Road later to try and trace the hamster's owner, but no-one knew who he belonged to.
PC Wills added: "It would be great to reunite the hamster with his owner, but we've not had any calls from residents who have lost him."
If the hamster is not claimed he will get a new home with PC Wills who already has a hamster of his own called Cupid.
