IT is a truth universally acknowledged that any 80s singer who is trying to resurrect their career more than 20 years after their prime will end in abject failure.

So it will be for Welsh "rocker" Michael Barratt, who is trying desperately to cling onto his glory days on the back of the huge success of Peter Kay's recent Comic Relief single.

And anyone who saw his performance on Hit Me Baby One More Time will realise this is one comeback that will not end happily.

This CD proves to be a comprehensive trip down memory lane to when Shaky ruled the charts.

And no-one can deny the classic hits such as Green Door, This Ole House and You Drive Me Crazy were great in their time.

They will have you tapping your feet and dancing round the living room before you can say "puffball skirts and batwing jumpers".

Cry Just a Little Bit, What Do You Want to Make Those Eyes at Me For?, Oh Julie and It's raining will also conjure up fond memories.

But sadly, the CD also includes some absolute stinkers. Who can forget A Rockin' Good Way, a truly appalling duet with Bonnie Tyler? And please don't even mention A Little Boogie Woogie (what WAS he thinking?)

Added to that is a DVD of some of his videos, only serving to remind us that the 80s really was the decade that taste forgot.

Even the most dedicated fans would find it hard to enjoy this collection from start to finish.
