LICKEY Monarchs' incredible seven year winning run was stopped in its tracked as they lost to title rivals Cofton Hackett B 7-3 in the Bromsgrove and Redditch League Division One.

Lickey, who have won the last seven titles in a row, were put to the sword as Pat McCabe won three matches for Cofton.

Roy Norton, Eric Hardman and Mervyn Wood won one match each for the Monarchs. Astwood Bank defeated Coughton 8-2, with Matthew Hartwell winning three and Margaret Dignum and Peter Roddy winning two each.

Droitwich B number one Mark Fiddian inspired his side's win over Spa A by winning all three singles matches. West Midlands Phones A threw away a 4-1 lead to draw with Cofton Hackett A 5-5.

West Midlands Phones B defeated Hillcrest 6-4, with wins for Ian Cooper (2) and Dave Lyne (3) in the doubles.

In Division Two Lickey Rocs drew 5-5 with Studley Road Nomads. Barnt Green Hornets lost 6-4 to Studley Road Terriers, while West Midlands Phones C defeated SPSP 7-3.

Droitwich E lost to Carter Retail 10-0 and Spa's D side lost to their C team.
