FATHER and son pairing Clive and Peter Nash eased into the second round of the Birmingham and District League Chairman's Trophy on Sunday.

The duo, part of Bromsgrove Golf Club's 17 to 24 handicap team, defeated a pairing from Pype Hayes 3-1 in the fourball matchplay format.

Clubmates Mark Owen and Tony Annis will have to play their Redditch based opponents from Abbey Park again after tie-ing at Cocks Moor Woods.

Bromsgrove teed-off the men's the season with its traditional inter-club match.

The team made up of Alliance and West Midlands League players edged the side comprising Bromsgrove's 17 to 24 and Worcester Handicap League players.

Captain Neil Batson accepted the Team Challenge Trophy off beaten opposite number Steve Hart.

Hart got his side off to a winning start when he and Stockwell defeated Barber and Sallows 39-35.

Batson's team rallied when Dyke and Downes drew with Greening and Wheeler 39-39.

Barber and Jones defeated Walker and Fung 41-31 to edge Batson's team ahead.

Geeham and Hodges defeated Thomas and Woodcock 31-28 to put the handicap team back on level terms. They went ahead when Ward and Rooke beat Thomas and Banks 41-39.

The Alliance side though hit back, with Bott and Mace edging Brooks and Bolland 43-41.

Alton and Beardsmore defeated Keaveny and Barrie 46-39, while Tynan and Batson scraped past the handicap side's final pairing 40-39.
