A SERIOUS cycle accident occurred in Alvechurch on Saturday in a spot which has been the scene of many narrow escapes.
A party of cyclists were wheeling from Redditch and when near the shop of Mrs Butcher, the accident occurred.
At this place the road is extremely narrow and the conditions were made worse by the fact other cyclists were approaching in the opposite direction.
A youth ran onto the track and to avoid a collision with the boy or the cyclists, one of the ladies attempted to wheel around and steer clear of the corner.
In attempting this she came into contact with the corner and was thrown.
It was at once seen that a serious accident had occurred.
When picked up it was found there was a big, ugly wound on her forehead and her legs were also badly cut.
Dr Gaunt was unfortunately away from home but first aid was rendered and after she had recovered from the shock and the wounds had been bandaged, she was conveyed by Mr J Hanks in his trap to her home.
This accident in the street forcibly shows the pressing need for a recreation ground in the area.
