STUART Watkiss admitted after Saturday's draw with Yeovil that if Harriers avoid relegation it would be 'the escape of all escapes'.
The defiant Aggborough boss, however, is still refusing to throw in the towel despite his side being six points adrift in the drop zone following third-from-bottom Rushden & Diamonds 4-2 home win over Boston.
He said: "We are still alive, we are still fighting and we have to believe we can go to Boston on Saturday and get a result.
"We certainly had the chances in the last ten minutes against Yeovil to win a couple of games. There were two or three great saves from their keeper and missed chances. It's disappointing and frustrating.
"Normally you would be pleased with a result like that but with Rushden winning we are now staring down both barrels of a shotgun.
"But you can't fault the players efforts and commitment and their never-say-die attitude at the death.
"It's going to be the escape of all escapes if we survive now, but the only way we can stay alive is to go to Boston and win."
Watkiss revealed that he was being given regular updates of Rushden's progress against Boston by a club steward.
"I was aware of the scores, but nobody else knew on the bench. I didn't want other people to know. But I was aware of what was going on and you have to give Rushden credit for another good win."
