BRIARS Phoenix reached the final of the Worcester Infirmary Sunday Minor Cup for the second year in succession after a narrow 1-0 victory after extra time against Worcester Juniors.

Sean Trow was the unlikely hero, heading in the winner in the second period of extra time to cap a fine debut for the Sunday Division Two team.

The Kidderminster club will be looking to do better than last season's final defeat when they meet Redditch side, Hogshead at Pershore Town FC on Friday 6 May.

After 27 years in existence running from the Briars Hotel, the club has now been forced to sever all connection with their base and are now looking for new headquarters.

Premier side Brintons also headed for a final, beating Wilden Village of Division One 1-0 in the semi-final of the Sunday League Senior Cup.

Division Five's Broadwaters Inn progressed to the next round of the Sunday League Minor Cup when they beat Fiddlers Arms 4-2 at Coseley.

Cookley enjoyed success in the latest round of the Fire Shield, winning 5-4 on penalties over Sunday Division Two leaders Jays, following a 2-2 full-time score.

KS Athletic moved into second place in Saturday Division One with a superb 6-0 victory at Quarry Bank Rangers and a 4-1 home win over Clee Hill United.

A close Wyre Forest mid-week derby in Sunday Division Three ended with a 4-3 victory for table-toppers Harriers Trust over Worths Breakwells.

On the women's football scene, the first of the Kidderminster Hospital Cup finals takes place on Tuesday between Burlish Ladies and Malvern Ladies at Walshes Meadow, kicking off at 7.45pm.

The Charity Cups committee have donated £2,800 to local causes this season.
