Broadway G C
THREE talented juniors from Broadway will be in the Gloucestershire team for the Midland Four Counties tournament this weekend.
Peter Steadman, Ed Kennedy and Chris O'Hagan are in the eight-man team which will compete against Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire at at the Moor Hall club in Warwickshire.
This is the first time three Broadway players have been included in a county junior side and shows the strength in depth of the club's junior squad. All three are under the county coaching scheme and are being monitored for higher honours by the English Golf Union.
Evesham G C
THE two winter competitions have now been concluded. Frank Hanley has won the ongoing Stableford competition with a total of 186 points. M Whiteford finished runner-up on 182, with M Camm taking third place with 178.
The Eclectic competition, run in conjunction with the Stableford event, was won by Mike Whiteford, with an exceptional score of 53, closely followed by R Steel 52 and P Belcher in third on 50.
The new inter-club season is under way and started with convincing defeats in both the opening two home matches. Wharton Park were the first visitors and ran out winners 6-2.
R Diffin and J Bomford, and P White and R Bagley are the only two winning pairs for Evesham.
This was quickly followed by a second successive defeat, this time against their visitors from the Worcestershire Golf Club.
T Nottingham and R Bagley were the only winning pair for Evesham, K Hardacre and H Homer gaining the half, in a 5-1 defeat.
FOURTEEN couples from Evesham Golf Club entered the Douglas Bader Mixed Stableford.
The winner will go through to one of the 12 area finals and these finalists will play out the final round in Portugal.
Winners: 1 Steve and Jane Bidwell, 40 points; 2 Ken and Joan Hunt 34; 3 Jeremy Taylor and Enid Walker 33.
