A KIDDERMINSTER student is celebrating election success after being chosen to represent the Midlands at the United Kingdom Youth Parliament - UKYP.
Seventeen-year-old, Abigail Lewis, who is studying for A levels in law, sociology, psychology and English literature at Kidderminster College, wants to make a "positive contribution to a better world" during her year in office.
She intends to play a part in such issues as anti-bullying policies and peer monitoring.
It is hoped that that by 2006 all young people aged between 11 and 18 will have the right to vote and stand for the parliament.
A "thrilled" Abigail, who was previously the Wyre Forest representative for the Worcestershire Youth Cabinet, is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
She said: "It's a real opportunity for young people to make a positive impact locally, nationally and internationally."
