GENEROUS residents helped raise £500 for Operation Covert with a raffle and whip-round at a Rock pub.
Between 250 and 300 people pledged the cash at a bonfire and fireworks display at the Duke William pub on the A456 at Callow Hill.
Businesses and well-wishers had donated the raffle prizes of a combined DVD and television, a mobile phone and drinks, said landlord, Phil Lyndon.
He added: "We are very pleased with how much we raised.
"We didn't think we would get that much."
An anonymous donation of £90 helped push up the figure, Mr Lyndon added.
He said: "A lot of people had something to do with Scouts. People think it is a very worthy cause."
Dave Denton, district commissioner for Kidderminster and District Scout Council, said: "Raffles are a good, traditional way of raising money so it is great to see the traditional raffle playing its part in Operation Covert."
