MARTIN Brown had a mixed night, winning three and losing two of the five finals that he appeared in at the Bengeworth Table Tennis Club annual championships on Friday.
In the first event of the evening Brown beat Alan Chung in the junior handicap singles despite having to give a six-point start.
He followed this with wins in the junior singles and the open handicap singles both against Andy Bryant, and these two games were considered the best of the night with good, hard-hitting rallies.
The handicap doubles was the closest game of the night with Brown and Chris McClean losing 12-21 21-9, 19-21 to Stan Owen and Colin Green.
There was a new name on the veterans' singles title - after many years of trying Ron Keyte finally achieved his dream by beating Bob Price in the final
In the ladies' singles Aileen Berry retained her title with a close win over Sandra Wheeler.
The final event of the evening also saw a new name added to the cup, when Doug Allen overcame Martin Brown to win the title.
The club has thanked Don Gould and Brian Haines who, after many years of playing for the club, supplied all the prizes for this year's competition.P rizes were presented by Don Gould.
