AFTER an appeal in the Worcester News, pet lovers have come forward to rehome dogs from Danemere Animal Rescue.
The Tibberton centre, near Worcester, was overrun with unwanted dogs and puppies at the beginning of this month, with about double the usual number living at its kennels.
Now 20 of the animals have been given new homes, including Ellie, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross.
However, the centre still has about 25 dogs in need of new loving homes, including a pair of abandoned German shepherds, sisters Della and Lara.
Kennel superviser Dave Lannie said he was concerned that the nine-year-olds might have difficulty finding new families to live with.
"They are more mature dogs, but a lot of people tend to go for younger ones," he said.
"They would be good for an older couple who could take them out once a day."
The centre is also having a sponsored walk on Sunday, July 17, to raise funds to help them with the costs of caring for the animals.
