WITH improving weather, Staunton and District Over-60s Club enjoyed a trip to Cirencester, followed by the Easter break.
For the first meeting back, Dot Smithers, her husband and friends organised a bingo day, collected prizes and did the calling. A few things were auctioned afterwards and resulted in a total of £71 being raised for club funds, a great result. The club will be hoping to take a trip through the Forest of Dean for the next meeting to see the bluebells.
Club leader Nan Bevan hopes to hold a sale bonanza when proceeds will be shared between the Over-60s Club and the Disabled Club. Cakes, groceries, white elephant etc will be greatly appreciated, if it needs collection ring (01452) 840640.
Staunton Church get-together coffee morning was held in the lounge at Johnstone Close flats. Lettuce plants, sweet peas and herbs for sale showed the time of year and there were some mouth-watering home made goodies amongst the bring and buy.
The family and friends of former Staunton parishioners were welcomed to the family service at St James' Church when Benjamin Robert Morris, son of Vicky, was baptised by the Reverend Canon John Evans.
Corse and Staunton Cricket Club have started their weekly coaching at the playing fields on Friday from 6.30pm. All boys and girls aged nine and upwards are welcome to attend. There will also be net facilities for senior players on Thursday and Friday nights throughout the season, just go along.

Winners in Corse and Staunton Village Hall 100 Club draw for March were: 1 Mrs A Bradford, 2 Mrs U Groves-Smith, 3 Mr C Jakeman, 4 W Fowler. April winners: 1 Mr J Frost, 2 Mr G Barber, 3 Mrs A Marshall, 4 Mr J Dickenson.
Date for the diary. Plants 4 U on Saturday, May 21 from 9.30-11.30am at Corse and Staunton Village Hall when there will be a variety of mainly hardy plants and shrubs for sale.
