A SERVICE of songs of praise took place at St Peter's in the form of a family service this month. Another is planned for the future. Sunday's service at 11am included the baptism by Reverend David Nichol of little Daniel William Tipper of Warndon (whose grandmother lives in Powick village). The lesson was read by Meg Allsopp and prayers were led by Thea Wild.

This Sunday, the morning service will be a special service of dedication for the new toilet and kitchen facilities at 11am. The Bishop of Dudley, the Right Reverend David Walker, will be the guest preacher. Refreshments will be served in the Lady Chapel afterwards. All welcome. There is no service at Callow End.

Powick Ramblers had fine weather for their three mile walk last Thursday led by Pat Ash. The path started from the Halfway House, over Carey's Brook via the footbridge, with views of the Malverns on one side and Bredon Hill in the distance. Ten walkers and one dog walked through a copse, where the first bluebells were visible, and then walked back to Bastonford.

Worcester Male Voice Choir will be in concert tomorrow (Saturday) night at Powick Parish Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 and can be booked on (01905) 83451. The event is organised by Callow End WI.

Please book the day of Saturday, May 28 in your diary for the annual church fete in Powick Parish Hall and grounds from noon-5pm. Proceeds will go towards the organ fund and repairs to the floor.

Following the removal of the back pews, a brick vault containing a lead coffin was discovered under the floor boards. The floor boards, which were rather rotten, will need replacing eventually and so funds will be required. Please give generously and sort out saleable items or items for a raffle. Teas and refreshments will be served from lunchtime onwards. Offers of help would be welcome on the day.
