A man who broke into Hanley Castle High School and stole computers and electrical equipment worth £4,500 has been jailed for two years.
Judge Andrew Geddes said raids on schools were happening far too frequently and it was the duty of courts to protect vulnerable property.
Gareth Flavell, 23, of Lawn Street, Stourbridge, pleaded guilty to the burglary, on September 16, at Worcester Crown Court.
He was arrested after his fingerprint had been found on a storage box discovered in the school grounds after the raid.
Martin Butterworth, defending, said Flavell had been hoping for a drug treatment and testing order but had been deemed unsuitable.
