n RUBBER ducks will be joining the real thing on the River Severn in Upton. A rubber duck race is being held on Sunday, May 1, to raise money for Upton in Bloom. The race starts when ducks are dropped from Upton bridge and punters can buy a ticket for a numbered duck at Upton Tourist Information Centre. The winner will be the duck which travels furthest down river, earning its lucky ticket holder £100 in prize money.
n AN evening of music, speech and drama will take place at Upton Parish Church on Saturday, April 30. All the performers were winners in the Worcester Competitive Festival and the evening has been organised by the Friends of Upton and Hook Churches. n POTTED Pirates will be performed by the Worcester Gilbert and Sullivan Society at Upton Memorial Hall tomorrow (Saturday). The performance, an abridged version of The Pirates of Penzance, starts at 7.30pm and tickets, costing £4, are available from Michael Jebson on 01684 593465.
n THE future of Hanley Swan Village Hall will be discussed at a meeting at the venue at 7.30pm on Wednesday. Anyone is welcome to attend and discuss ideas for fundraising and events.
n THREE graves in Upton cemetery have been pushed over by vandals. The damage is believed to have been caused betweem Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon. It is the latest in a spate of vandalism incidents at the cemetery. Police have appealed for witnesses to call 08457 444888.
