POWICK finished their unbeaten Worcester Saturday division one season with a great result against second-placed Hanley Swan.
HANLEY SWAN 0, POWICK 6
The game was very one-sided as Powick really turned on the pace and power that they have showed numerous times this season.
Nic Docker, the Hanley goalkeeper, managed to keep the score line down to single figures with several stops from Drinkwater, Downes and Henderson from range.
The first goal was a real break-through as Powick had been on constant attack for the first 20 minutes. The goal came from Drinkwater, who had his first shot blocked by Docker but the ball bounced-up for him to head in.
Stu Harvey made it 2-0 before half-time when he slotted home a Drinkwater cross.
Ten minutes into the second half Powick's Kev Downes got on the scoresheet with fantastic effort on the left-hand side of the box to side foot the ball into the top corner.
The industrious Jamie Abba blasted in a 25-yard scorcher for the fourth goal and minutes later Mike Cole chased down a long ball, beat Docker to it on the edge of his box and squared to the unmarked Harvey, who blasted-in from close range. This put Harvey as the season's leading scorer with 42 goals, an outstanding achievement.
Hanley had a chance for a consolation goal when they were awarded a penalty but Steve Newman pulled off a fantastic one-handed save to maintain his clean sheet.
From the resulting corner Kev Downes grabbed his brace when he again broke from midfield. His looping half-volley gave Docker no chance, to make it 6-0. A great finish to a superb season and all the players enjoyed the celebrations.
Powick have a friendly on Tuesday (April 26) away against a newly-formed Droitwich side.
On May 6, Powick play Martley Spurs in the Martley Cup final at the Worcester City ground.
