AFTER winning the previous Sunday with an unusual goal from keeper Chris Ball, Radar were defeated by a last-minute fluke away at Oak Apple.
OAK APPLE 2, MALVERN RADAR 1
Both teams struggled to create any real chances early on but the home side took the lead after 25 minutes, when an excellent left wing cross from Kevin Insall was crashed into the net at the far post by Ben McGreavey.
Radar improved as the half went on and Lee Brookes should have equalized, only to slide his shot wide of the post.
The second-half started with Radar winning a number of corners which they failed to capitalise on. They notched a deserved goal when sub Darren Baker rose above everybody to glance the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
The Oak then had keeper Darren Wise to thank when Radar were awarded a penalty, but the usually reliable Clive Churchill saw his spot-kick blocked by the keeper and the Oak were grateful to clear the ball to safety.
Wise then came to the rescue when Mark Brookes raced clear, only to delay his shot until he got too close to the keeper who somehow blocked the rather tame effort.
The deciding goal came in the last minute when Simon Insall's punt into the area fooled attackers and defenders alike and the ball bounced over everyone and dropped into the back of the net.
This Sunday Radar are at home to Worcester Juniors, meet at Victoria Park at 9.45am.
