A Malvern fundraiser went through a truly hair-raising experience for charity.
Patrick Dorrell had his head, beard and moustache shaved off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Mr Dorrell went for his close crop on Wednesday, after his close friend John Lilley developed hip cancer.
"John had sessions of chemotherapy which thinned his hair and made it fall out," he said. "I decided to show solidarity for him by shaving my hair off, and raising money too."
Mr Dorrell went to Divine hairdressers, in Barnards Green, where all trace of his hair was removed with clippers.
"It feels quite nice actually. My wife's wanted to get rid of my beard for ages, so she'll be pleased," said Mr Dorrell afterwards. "I haven't had this little hair since I was a baby."
Hairdresser and friend Lisa Davis said: "I can't believe he's done this, but I'm really proud of him."
She said when Mr Dorrell's hair grows back, she would give him a free haircut and donate the cost to Macmillan.
Customers also donated to the appeal, which has reached £200.
"This part is all a bit of fun for me," said Mr Dorrell. "But it's not fun at all when you have cancer like John. He's the one with all the courage."
He said Mr Lilley was back at work after treatment.
"He's still trying to build his energy up, I've never met anybody with such a positive outlook," said Mr Dorrell.
