THIS is very much a thank-you column this week, but as we said when we were talking about manners the other week, a thank-you costs nothing.

As many of you will know, this Sunday will be the last Sunday Show for me on BBC Hereford and Worcester. For more than 13 years I have dragged myself out of bed at 6.30 on Sunday morning to do the radio show, so I won't miss doing that!

I would like to say a big thank-you to all those people who have written in, phoned, texted, e-mailed, stopped me in the street etc.

Whatever you do in life, it's nice to feel a little appreciated. If it's a radio programme or folding cardboard boxes on a production line, it's nice to think you have done a half-decent job.

I won't comment more on why I won't be with you on Sundays after this weekend; suffice to say I was very disappointed when told I would not be doing the show any longer.

I would like to thank all the people who have come on the show in the past to make it something a bit different from other programmes, which is probably why it has been so successful.

See you at the car boot on Sunday mornings in the future!

On Monday evening of this week I had the pleasure of addressing a large group of ladies of the Women's Institute. What an amazing organisation the WI is? They have the old jam and Jerusalem image but I get the feeling the WI is changing and on the move.

Remember a Prime Minister once made the mistake of criticising the WI and got loads of stick for it when addressing one of their conferences.

They are very well organised, and long may they reign.

It was the Elgar Group of WIs that I spoke to, and I would like to thank them for a most enjoyable evening; it's amazing who laughs most at the slightly smutty jokes!

Our big show is upon us at Malvern Theatres tomorrow evening. I suspect that by the time we go to print it may well be a sell-out, which is great news as all the money will be going to the four Adult Hospices in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Again, a big thank-you to everyone involved for giving their time and also to Nic Lloyd and his team at the theatre for all their help.

They have two sell out shows on Saturday evening which says a lot about the effort they all put in.

See - a whole column with no sport in it! Thank you for reading this.
