MALVERN pool stars Shaun Daly and Fred Tandy are playing for the Republic of Ireland at the World Pool Championships being held in Bridlington over the next week.
Thirty-seven-year-old Shaun, from Malvern Link, is also playing in the Professional World Singles Championship for the sixth time and is seeded 14th in the event, although at the moment he is provisionally seeded ninth in the world.
Shaun said: "I am playing well at the moment and at different times have beaten all the players in the tournament, so you never know."
Fred, 39, also from Malvern Link, is playing the amateur championship and hoping to improve on his first time last year, when he reached the final 16.
The team event starts on Sunday and the Republic of Ireland team have their sights set on improving on last year's fourth place.
Both players turn out for the Cross Keys.
