SAINT George was today slaying a dragon to entertain Worcester shoppers and raise cash for seriously ill children.
Students at the Worcester College of Technology were wearing costumes for a George-and-Dragon play outside the city's Guildhall at 11am, noon, 2pm and 3pm.
The play was raising cash for Acorns Children's Hospice. Organiser Rosemary Henman said: "We hope lots of money will have been raised for our local children's hospice."
Staff at Midlands Co-op Travel, in the city's High Street, were also hoping that dressing up in red and white would help them to raise hundreds of pounds for Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood (CLIC).
l Meanwhile, 800 Scouts, Cubs and Beavers will be marching through the city from Angel Place from 1.30pm tomorrow.
Roads will face closures with vehicles prevented from offloading passengers at the Cathedral Island. Police will stop traffic entering the Angel Place, Broad Street, St Swithins Street and Pump Street, Deansway and College Street.
