HAVING read of the suggestions for Worcester's stations, I would like to suggest that any closure of Shrub Hill be rejected. A Norton Parkway station would only exploit the traffic on the Bromsgrove to Gloucester route. Shrub Hill is the ideal station for journeys from Droitwich, since few trains from there go to Foregate.
Both Foregate and Shrub Hill are historic Great Western Stations, the latter being an excellent aesthetic introduction to Worcester, which is rather shabby in comparison.
Foregate could be improved with a lighter entrance lobby, but it is dark due to its cramped location. Some brighter light bulbs would be a start. As for Shrub Hill, a new station should not compromise this fine servant of Worcester.
CLIVE COLLINS,
Worcester.
