A FORMER dry-cleaners could be turned into a night time takeaway, if Worcester planners give the application the go-ahead.
But the plan for the former Time Saver dry cleaners and laundrette on Bath Road, near the junction with Timberdine Avenue, Worcester, should be refused, say planning officers at Worcester City Council.
The hot takeaway food shop would only be open after 5pm and this would create unsightly "dead shop frontage" during the day, which would contribute to a "degradation in the vitality of the Bath Road Neighbourhood Shopping Centre," stated the planning report.
The shop would also require extra parking space, be detrimental to road safety, and cause general noise, smells and disturbance for nearby residents. But the plan still could go ahead if the committee decides to overrule the concerns.
