ANDY Preece believes Worcester City will be promoted next season if they repeat the performance that flattened Droylsden.
City threw a spanner in the works of the Bloods' championship charge with a 3-1 Nationwide North victory at St George's Lane.
Midfield playmaker Jai Stanley capped an excellent individual display by scoring two goals either side of Neil Hall's penalty, while Tom Warmer finished the job with a late third.
It was the third consecutive time that City had beaten Droylsden following back-to-back league and cup wins at the Butcher's Arms earlier this term.
Preece praised his players for a fine team display but warned that greater consistency was required next term if Worcester are to challenge for the league title.
"This result shows what we can do, but we just have not done it consistently enough," said Preece.
"It makes my life difficult that players are causing me problems. For some of them, they will hope it's not too late because they've shown that they can beat teams like Droylsden. But can they do it on a regular basis?
"That's what we need, players that are going to consistently give you seven and eight out of 10 performances. If we play like that every week, we'll go up next year. I've got no doubt about that. But when we play the lower teams, can we be mentally tuned in like against Droylsden?"
Meanwhile, in-form Adam Webster scored a hat-trick of trophies at Worcester City's annual presentation night, held at Worcester County Cricket Club on Saturday evening.
Club top-scorer Webster, 24, picked up the Players' Player of the Year, Supporters' Player of the Year and the Most Improved Player.
It caps a fine campaign for the former Bedworth striker, whose 22 league goals helped City climb up the table.
Tom Warmer was named as the Young Player of the Year, while club stalwart Roger Pugh collected the Clubman of the Year after completing 40 years service at St George's Lane.
