DOES this not show, once again, the spin of this deceitful Labour government. Challenged to say he would not hit us with more taxes once the election is over, Gordon Brown refused to answer.
But note the play on words when announcing their manifesto. Blair says we will not raise income tax. If he keeps his word, which nobody seems to trust now, it means that Brown will simply keep to the stealth taxes.
This means of course that new taxes and tax increases will be on the necessary everyday things we buy in the shops that will affect everyone from teenager to pensioner.
It has been hinted that national insurance will rise again.
Another tax he inadvertently let slip was on old people who have sold part ownership of their homes to insurance companies for a lump sum. But he's now keeping quiet about it until the elections are over.
Those 67 stealth taxes will look like mere trifles as we approach the 100 mark... once they've conned us into putting them in again.
