NEW Lido publicity by Wychavon is a smokescreen to deter people from voting in the parish poll. A press release is not definite plans, or pledge to do anything.
When Droitwich had a parish poll on Waitrose, Wychavon put out publicity about investing £20m in High Street, Ombersley Street, and other declining shopping areas. Believing it, people did not bother to vote.
Wychavon claimed the low poll turn-out proved a silent majority was happy to just build Waitrose, avoiding the rest. If residents don't vote in the coming parish poll, Wychavon will again claim silent majority approval to bulldoze a Lido and not replace it.
I urge everyone to attend Droitwich Town Meeting on Monday, April 25 and vote in the Spa Parish Poll of Thursday, April 28. Wychavon has conned us before - don't let history repeat itself.
MARK R HEEL,
Droitwich.
